Osun APC Accuses Governor Adeleke of Misusing State Funds on U.S. Trip

OSOGBO, OSUN STATE – The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing him of misusing public funds on an extended trip to the United States under the guise of attracting foreign investment.

In a statement released on Monday, the party, through its chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, claimed the governor's month-long trip was primarily for the white wedding of his nephew, music star David "Davido" Adeleke. Lawal expressed concern over viral photos and videos showing the governor in what the party described as "questionable gatherings," including a "beer parlour."

"It is surprising that a week after the wedding, Governor Adeleke is still staying put in the United States," the statement read, adding that the claim of searching for investors is "a falsity."

The APC also mocked a video of Governor Adeleke drumming, arguing that his conduct shows a leader who is disconnected from the state's pressing issues. The party's statement alleges that the governor has spent over N6 billion on international travel in 30 months without attracting any significant foreign direct investment.

In addition to the travel expenses, the APC raised a number of governance issues:

Civil Service Security: The party claimed that local government workers have not reported to work for six months due to security concerns.

Unresolved Recruitment: The APC pointed to the plight of more than 32,000 job applicants who allegedly paid recruitment fees but have not been employed.

Education and Health: The opposition also criticized the governor for sacking 1,500 teachers without replacing them and highlighted the need for more doctors and nurses in the state's hospitals.

The APC urged Governor Adeleke to return to Osun to address the challenges of insecurity, unemployment, and the deteriorating health and education sectors.
