LAGOS — The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced a major promotion exercise, elevating 243 of its staff members, including nine Deputy Directors who were promoted to the rank of Director.
The promotions were approved by the agency's Governing Board in a move that NIMASA Director-General Dr. Dayo Mobereola stated was a commitment to staff welfare and a transparent, merit-based career system.
The newly appointed directors are:
Mrs. Moji Jimoh, Coordinator, Abuja Liaison Office
Dr. Odunayo Ani, Director, Internal Audit
Mrs. Nneka Obianyor, Special Adviser to the DG
Mrs. Biodun Fatade, Director, Procurement
Dr. Oma Ofodile
Ms. Gloria Anyasodo
Mr. Abdulahi Yelwa
Mr. Umar Buba
Mr. Umar Ibrahim Sidi
In addition to the new directors, the board also approved the promotion of 30 Assistant Directors to Deputy Directors, and 35 Chiefs to Assistant Directors. A further 169 staff members received promotions to new grade levels.
In a statement, Mobereola congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to rededicate themselves to their duties. "This promotion exercise is strictly merit-based, and we expect staff to reciprocate by rededicating themselves to higher productivity," he said. "We will continue to prioritize staff welfare while counting on your commitment to the ideals of the agency in helping management actualize its mandate."
